Announcing Lucy Spraggan as a new Scouts Ambassador

Date: 10th Feb 2026 Author: Chorlton Scouts

We’re thrilled to announce singer and songwriter Lucy Spraggan as our newest Scouts Ambassador.

As well as being a successful recording artist, Lucy is a keen adventurer, spending much of her time in the outdoors, winning Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins. She’s also a Sunday Times Bestselling Author and was a Scout herself as a young person.

Lucy rose to fame as a contestant on ITV’s X-Factor, and has since released seven solo albums. Her singles include: ‘Flowers,’ ‘Sober’ (a duet with Robbie Williams) and ‘Stick the Kettle On’ – a song about mental wellbeing, featuring Scouting For Girls.

Lucy joins a team that includes Tim Peake, Helen Glover, Louis Cole, Warwick Davis and other brilliant volunteer ambassadors committed to raising awareness of Scouts and growing our movement.

Bringing people together

‘Scouts is all about bringing young people together,’ says Lucy. ‘It’s something that makes a huge difference. Being part of a team and feeling a sense of belonging is really important. If you grow up without that, it can make you feel like an outsider. Scouts brings people together in an amazing way.’

Lucy has plenty of strings to her bow. As well as her career in music, she’s a best-selling author, trained in martial arts and a metal detectorist, another fantastic way of getting into the outdoors.

’Learning new skills is something people should do all of their lives,’ she says. ‘You should never stop challenging yourself.

Supporting Scouts

Last month, she met up with Explorers from St Alban’s as they rehearsed for their upcoming show. As well as sharing advice from her own career in performing arts, she led them in a vocal warm up and even joined in as they learned a new dance routine. She shared this advice for those thinking of following in her footsteps (or dance steps):

‘Being your authentic self is probably the most important part of it. If you have self-belief, other people will believe in you too. Try not to listen to what other people say too much but take on advice that’s meaningful to you.’

Spending time in nature

Lucy is a great champion of spending time in nature as a way of boosting mental wellbeing: ‘I love being outdoors. Nature is so unique and important. As human beings we have a responsibility to nature because nature looks after us. It’s good for your brain, it’s good for your body. It’s the best place to be.’

A huge thank you to Lucy for joining our team and watch this space for more on Lucy’s adventures in Scouts.
